Dr. Attia Youseif currently serves as the Associate Director of Curriculum and Assessment at the Middlebury Arabic School and is a Senior Lecturer of Arabic at Indiana University Bloomington. His work bridges the traditional depth of Arabic linguistics with the cutting-edge requirements of modern, technology-enhanced pedagogy.
A graduate of Alexandria University, he earned his Ph.D. in Arabic Linguistics (2008) and an M.A. in Arabic Grammar and Morphology (2003). His international experience includes serving as the Cultural and Media Counselor of the Egyptian Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, and as a Visiting Professor of Arabic Linguistics at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
As the Director of Tutoring for the Arabic Flagship Program since 2020, Dr. Youseif has pioneered the integration of AI and large language models (LLMs) into language instruction. His current research focuses on corpus-based familiarity dictionaries, forensic linguistics, and the unique needs of Arabic heritage learners.
